When was the Last time you checked your rankings?

4, 5 days ago, though I m not into repetitive checking unless I’ve made some experimental changes to my website or optimization strategy.

Oooh, thanks for reminding. It has been more than an hour. Wait, let me check if my website has got into the top 100 search results or not.

Today, when I logged on to the internet. That’s the first thing, I do everyday.

Not sure, maybe last week ... or last month … Why?

How do you react to a slight drop in your rankings?

No reaction as such, but sometimes I tend to get concerned if it will drop down further.

I don’t react at all. It happens all the time and doesn’t mean much.

Couple of additions were made to add value to the website’s content and one minor change in line with optimization guidelines.

I don’t make lots of changes to my website. The time can be better utilized by submitting your website to free directories and hundreds of search engines out there. I’ve recently stumbled across a list of 5000 web directories. For the last 4 days I am spending all my time submitting into these directories. They are all identical and my URL gets instantly approved. Which means 5000 guaranteed links, isn’t it great?

I added some content with the intent of adding more Keywords and Key phrases to my website.

What do you think of Google and its ranking algorithm?

It’s not consistent, they say one method is spammy and still we see many websites being rewarded for using the same method, quite disheartening, I must say.

I sometimes feel that Google is conspiring against my websites. Each and every update is an attempt to further derail my rankings. For example, I just acquired 5000 back links (remember the directories I was talking about) and my rankings have further dropped. What’s this if not conspiracy?

It is a pretty good search engine, but why’d I care about their algorithm?

The algorithm takes up to 200 factors into consideration and they are always working for further improvements. It is fun to try and keep up with all of these changes.

Do you believe that all of your competitors (especially those who ranks above your website) are using black hat techniques to rank higher?

Yes, I checked their back links, and some of them have less than 1000 back links. If there's no black hat stuff going on, my website with 5000 back links would be ranking higher. Quite obvious, isn't it?

No, I don’t think so. Maybe some of them do but I don’t think they are ranking higher solely because of those techniques.

Why’d I be bothered? It’s their website and they can use any of the black hat, yellow hat, orange hat or pink hat techniques, for all I care.

Content Creation (5%) (have got a software that spins articles that I use on my website) New Features (No time for this), Trying to figure out new, easy, and free ways to acquire back links (90%)

When you come up with a new/modified SEO strategy, how much time would you give (and persist with it) before it starts showing results?

I start losing faith in my plan if it doesn’t show any result within a week and I dump it altogether if it shows no signs of improvement after 2 weeks.

I don’t really make SE-Optimization strategies; I just do some random optimization stuff every now and then, that's all.

SE-optimization strategy? What’s that? I just follow the simple rule of getting more and more back links one way or another. It’s just that Google is conspiring against my website, otherwise SEO is pretty straightforward.

At least 2 to 3 months, and I go all-out during this time, which means no half hearted attempts.

Are you of the opinion that SEO veterans have some secret technique in their pockets that they never disclose?

Yes, and that secret technique is buying links.

There’s no secret technique. Some experts do have this habit of beating around the bush, but there are plenty who keep spilling out valuable information every now and then. Which is more than enough.

Of course, that’s why we haven’t seen any new techniques coming out for some time. I am getting bored of doing directory submissions and social book marking for hours on daily basis.

I don’t really listen to any of them so I can’t tell.
